Amid the world’s best mobile applications Hiru TV Mobile App was honored with the global UN-based World Summit Award mobile (WSA mobile) at the WSA mobile Global Congress which was held on the 3rd of February 2015 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. 

Hiru TV Mobile App produced by Lotus Technologies (Pvt) Limited Sri Lanka, the Digital Media Arm of Asia Broadcasting Corporation (Pvt) Limited was selected by the WSA – mobile Jury among 178 participating countries as one of the World’s Best Mobile Content Application in the Category M-Media & News.   

HIRU TV, Sri Lanka’s Number One TV Channel, recognized for its creative and high quality programs and credible news, It’s mobile applications too lives up to this reputation and offers a rich unique entertainment experience beyond the shores of Sri Lanka to connect the globally scattered Sinhala speaking diaspora. It is significant that the app has connected many homes and villages in Sri Lanka to their family members working or living overseas specially the Sinhala speaking migrant worker communities in the Middle East.   It has commendably converged the old media of television with new media of ubiquitous mobile devices to bring to its audience Hiru Live TV, favorite TV programs, up-to-the-minute news reporting, articles, photos, videos and blogs in a dynamic and personalized way. Hiru TV’s Mobile App was the ONLY MEDIA APP from Sri Lanka to be selected to compete at the WSA. Amid 39 projects from 30 countries Hiru TV Mobile App was honoured with the World Summit Award mobile. In front of UN representatives, ICT ministries and the private sectors. Hiru TV Mobile App received the Award in the m-Media & News category at the World Summit Global Congress held in Abu Dhabi, 1-3 February, 2015 hosted by ADSIC.
